Obituary

John Vacariu, 89, Halstead, died Thursday, February 28, 2001 at Halstead Hospital. He was born February 22,, 1913 at Alliance, Ohio, the son of John and Susanna Vacariu. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army, serving with the 1245th MP Copmpany in World War II. He was a retired grocer for Sunderland's IGA in Halstead. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead.

He married Barbara Helen Overstreet at Newton on August 28, 1943. She survives. Other survivors: two daughters, Susan Swanson, Columbus, Ohio and Mary Ann Bumm, Halstead; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Earl Vacariu and a sister, Olive Adams.

Graveside service was held Monday, March 4, at Halstead Cemetery, conducted by Father Steven Mahn Thapwa. The rosary was Sunday evening at Kaufman Funeral Home,
Halstead.
