Obituary

Ralph E. Ward, 82,rural Halstead, died Friedy, November 1, 2002 at his rural residence. Mr. Ward was born April 13, 1920 at Girard, Kansas, the son of Reuben Baker and Katherine Lee Torneden Ward. He was a farmer and stockman and had been a Halstead resident since 1927.

He married Verla Alma Youngren December 7, 1945 at Marquette, Kansas. She died December 2, 1987. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead. He was also a member of the Kansas Livestock Association.

Survivors: two daughters, Barbara Ward, Wichita and Bettie Oliver, Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Ruby Arbogast, Allen, Texas and a grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ira Herman (Bill) Ward.

Services were set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Church in Halstead. Burial will follow in the Halstead Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the churchh or to the American Heart Association in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
