Obituary

Dan Huebert, M.D.,79, Hutchinson, Minnesota, former Halstead resident, died Tuesday March 5, 2002 at the Hutchinson Community Hospital, Hutchinson, Minnesota.

He was born July 7, 1922 in Halstead, one of twin sons of John C. Huebert and Agnes Hertzler Huebert, M.D. who died in 1925. He was the grandson of Dr. Arthur E. Hertzler, founder of the Halstead Hospital and the Heretzler Clinic, Halstead.

He was a 1941 graduate of Halstead High School, graduate of Kansas University and KU Medical School. He did his residency in Kansas City. Following his education, he practiced medicine in Halstead at the Halstead Hospital and Hertzler Clinic for a short time.

He was in the Air Force during the Korean War and served as a flight surgeon at the air base in South Dakota near Rapid City. He then went to Hutchinson, Minnesota. Most of his medical practice was there. He was certified by the college board of surgeons and was the only certified surgeon in Cloud County, Minnesota for several years.

He married Virginia Gunsolly in 1945. She died in 1988. He then married Marianne Morse in 1990. She survives of the home. He is also survived by a son, Dan Huebert and a daughter Betsy Broown, both of Hutchinson, Minnesota; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Huebert, St. Cloud, Minnesota; stepson, Charles Morse, Minneapolis, Minnesota; two step-daughters, Marion Drahos, Minneapolis, Minnessota and Patricia Adams, Hutchinson, Minnesota; sister, Mary Jo Dietrick, Brady, Texas; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Huebert; twin brother, Dr. Dean Huebert and a step-brother, Forrest Wilson.

A public informal social gathering celebrating Dr. Huebert's life will be held March 20. 2002 at the Crow River Country Club, Hutchinson, Minnesota.

The body was cremated and inurnment will be in the Halstead, Kansas Cemetery at a later date.
