Polson, Mary Lou
The Newton Kansan
Mary Lou Polson, 80, a lifelong Halstead resident, died Saturday, February 23 at Halstead Place Assisted Living Center. She was born October 27, 1927 in Halstead to her parents, Dr. Lloyd O. E. and Helen M. Fellner Peckenschneider.
She was married to John A. Polson on August 2, 1950 in Halstead. He died October 20, 1995.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; PEO Chap AK; Halstead Historical Society; Ruth Wilson Anmerican Legion Post 231 Auxiliary, all of Halstead; Order of the Estern Star Chapter 5, Newton; Gamma Phi Beta National Sorority; Kansas Historical Society and KU Jayhawk Club.
She was a 1945 graduate of Halstead High School and she earned an associate arts degree from Stephens College, Columibia, Missour; a bachelor of arts degree from Kansas University and teaching certificate from Wichita State University.
She is survived by her sons; Douglas R. Polson (Cheryl), Shawnee; Matthew J. Polson of Los Angeles, California; daughter, Lisa C. Marvin (Jack), of Wichita; brother, Richard Peckenschneider of Meridian, Idaho and one step grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Imel.
Services were held at the church in Halstead and burial was private at the Halstead cemetery.
