Deston G Chapin

Deston G. Chapin, 94, Halstead died October 1, 1990 at Regency Health Care Center, Halstead. He was born April 28, 1896 at rural Halstead, the son of Marcue M. and Rose White Chapin. He was a retired farmer. He also liked to garden and enjoyed growing unusual vegetables. He continued gardening after retiring from farming and kept busy in the garden until just before moving to the care center a few years ago. He was a World War I veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors: nephew, Ira Arrowsmith, Newton and a niece, Josephine Reed, ElDorado; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Seth Chapin and Marcus Chapin Jr. and three sisters, Lillian Chapin, Ellen Chapin and Ida Arrowsmith.

Services will be held October 4 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Associatioon.
