Obituary

John Edward Ewy, 80, Halstead, died July 9, 1990 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born September 18, 1909 at Perry, Oklahoma, the son of John P. and Minnie Brubacher Ewy. He married Dorothy Brown November 29, 1929 at Halstead, Kansas. He was a retired farmer and customs harvester and had lived most of his life at Halstead.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Halstead and had served on the Halstead Township Board for many years.

Survivors: his wife of the home; son, Forrest D. Ewy, Halstead; daughter, Betty Jean Shepherd, Halstead; brother, Ralph, Halstead; sisters, Betty Buller and Dorothy Janzen, both of Halstead and two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Graveside services were held July 11 at Halstead Cemetery. A memorial service was held that morning at the Church with the Rev. John Waltner officiating.
