Obituary

Edna Hand, 85, Simi Valley, California, former areea resident died March 30. 1990 at Adventist Hospital, Simi Valley, California. She was born August 3, 1904 at Bentley, Kansas, daughter of James and Nellie White Ramsey. She married Claude Hand December 21, 1922. He died February 27, 1965.

She her husband lived in the Bentley area until 1950 when they moved to Ulysses where they farmed. Following her husband's death, she was employed as a housemother for 12 years including a college in New Orleans, Louisiana; Cal Western San Dieg, California; Marymount College, Verdes California and Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado

She retired as a houosemother in 1977 and resided in Colorado Springs until 1984 when she moved to Simi Valley, California.

Throughout her years she was active in the Methodist Church wherever she lived and was also active in the DAR.

Survivors: son, Max Hand, Simi Valley, California; two daughters, Claudine Hand Dosien, Santa Paula, California and Norma Hand Ruppel, Escondido, California; one brother, Noel Ramsey, Bentley; one sister, Juanita O'Dell, Longton, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Methodist Church in Simi Valley, California April 2. The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held in the Bentley Uinited Methodist Church Monday, April 9 with the Rev. Richard Brooks. Burial will be in the Halstead Cemetery.
