Obituary

Avis Miller Popkins, 88, Halstead, died Tuesday, May 8, 1990 at Regency Health Care Center, Halstead. She was born December 7, 1901 the daughter of John Randolph and Virginia Wolk Miller. She married Vernon Popkins November 21, 1944 in Halstead. He died June 11, 1966. She was a retired teacher and librarian and had been a lifetime resident of Halstead.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead.

Survivors: three nieces, Avis Carley, DeQuincy, Louisiana; Anna Shirley, Houston, Texas; and Myrna Patch, North Dakota; one nephew, Donald Miller, also of North Dakota. She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Graveside services were held Friday May 11 at the Halstead Cemetery with the Rev. Roger O. Shanks in charge.
