Ruth (Poorman) Choate

Ruth Poorman Choate, 90, Hesston, Kansas, a former Halstead resident, died February 17, 1991 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston, Kansas.

Mrs. Choate was born March 25, 1900 at Humboldt, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar P. and Florence Moore Poorman. She was an English teacher . Shw married Cautious Choate June 14, 1924 at Humboldt, Illinois. He died September of 1971. She resided in Halstead when her husband was the minister of the United Methodist Church. She had been a resident of Hesston since 1973, moving from Wichita, Kansas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hesston.

Surivors: son, C. Arthur Choate, Sacramento, California; daughter, Phyllis Southard, Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Gerald Sharp. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
