Simonds, Margaret Dorothy Hanselman
Margaret Dorothy Hanselman Simmons was Born December 16, 1891 at Burrton, Harvey Co., Kansas and departed this life on December 12, 1918, age 26 years, 11 months and 26 days. She United with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1906. She atended and graduated from Burrton High School in 1911. After teaching for 3 years at Burrton, she attended Normal College at Emporia, Kansas from which she received a Primary Proficiency Certificate. The following year she taught at Protection, Kansas
It was there that she met Neal H. Simonds to whom she was married on September 4, 1917. They made their home near Protection until the past months, when with her husband, she came to live on the home farm in order to care for her aged father, her mother having preceding her on July 13, 1918. Her teaching was highly successful and appreciated both by pu;ils and patrons alike. She was a lover of music and art, both of which she had cultivated.
She is survived by her father, husband and sister, Francew Pinkston of Cedar Point, Kansas. She was pregnant at the time of her death.
Services were conducted at the home on Saturday, September 14, 1918 by Rev. D. C. Shields. Burial was in the Burrton cemetery.
