Verlen O. Hall, 88, Whitewater, died April 2, 1993 at Wheat State Manor, Whitewater. He was the brother of Maxine Ropp, Halstead. He was born October 22, 1904 at Georgetown, Illinois. He was the son of James D. and Inez Bell Elder Hall. A lifetime Whitewater and Newton resident, he was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Federated Church, Whitewater, Harvey County Farm Bureau, Treasurer of Richland Township and Trustee of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office.
He married Nora Frerking. She preceded him in death on September 9, 1970. On April 17, 1971 he married Dorothy K. Strickert Rose. She preceded him in death on January 11, 1990.
Other survivors: two sons, Jim Hall, Potwin and Olin Hall, Greencastle, Indiana; four daughters, Edith Hayes, Shawnee; Janette Mathena, Greencastle; Judy Whiteside, Cordele, Georgia and Jolene Potter, Racine, Wisconsin; brother, Gene Hall, Newton; four other sisters, LaVera Good, Newton; Edith Harper, Chevy Chase, Md; Bob Stineman, Davenport, Iowa and Fern Lingnau, Ponca City, Oklahoma; 28 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 5, at the Federated Church, Whitewater. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
