Herbert G Smith

Herbert G. Smith, 67, Halstead, retired furniture designer, farmer and church custodian, died Sunday July 11, 1993 at the Halstead Hospital. He had been a Halstead resident since 1948.

He was born January 13, 1926 at Newton, son of F. Merle and Maude Elizabeth Cook Smith. He married Esther Louise Schirer on June 8, 1948 at Newton. She preceded h im in death on December 12, 1992.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men's Breakfast Club, American Legion Post 231 and the Lions Club, all of Halstead.

Survivors: son, Edward A. Smith, Halstead; two daughters, Barbara R. Riley, Halstead and Sharon L. Klassen, Ridgecrest, California; brother, Wendel Smith, Wichita; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Services were held at the Methodist Church on July 15 with the Rev. James Mardock presiding. Burial in Halstead Cemetery.
