Edmonston, Violet Horner

Halstead Independent

Violet Horner Edmonston, 79, Sedgwick, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 at her home. She was forn January 1, 1915 at Waldo, the daughter of Charles McKindrey and Gertrude Phidelia McKinley Horner. A Sedgwick resident for 47 years, she also lived in Coldwater, Protection and Bentley. She was a cook for the Sedgwick School system for eight years, retiring in 1975. She previously worked for Coombs Hatchery, Bentley.

She was a member of Sedgwick Senior Citizens, where she served as president for 2 years and the Harvey County Board of Transportation, where she served as Chairman for two years.

On December 31, 1935, she married Granville Monroe Edmonston at Coldwater. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Loyal M. Edmonston, Sedgwick, three daughters, Guyla M. Taylor and Norma K. Driskill, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kathryn J. Flory, Wichita; one brother, Myrle A. Horner, Wichita; three sisters, Hazel Burghardt, Dodge City; May Ellis and Garnetta Horner, both of Wichita; 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Funeral was Saturday, December 31, at First Christian Church, Sedgwick. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.
