Fletcher, Joe B.
Halstead Independent
Joe B. Fletcher, 69, Newton, died Sunday, July 10, 1994 at Regency Health Care Center in Halstead. He was Born June 14, 1925 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Joseph Bailey Fletcher and Edna Alma Guerrant Fletcher. He was raised in Bethany, Oklahoma. He was an office engineer for the Santa Fe Railway, living in Topeka and Chicato, before retiring in Newton in 1987.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church; the American Legion Post No. 2 and Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 971, all of Newton; the BHS Alumni golf of Bethany, Oklahoma and the Putnam City Men's Alumni Golf Club of Oklahoma City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married Anne Balsters in Arkansas City on March 24, 1951. She died in 1988. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Ann McClelland and Terry Kay Hankins, bothh of Newton and Lori Fletcher Steele, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
Funeral was Wednesday July 13, at Peace Lutheran Church Newton. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Memorial has been established with the church and with Central Homecare and Hospice.
