Luna, Longino "Gene"

Halstead Independent

Longino "Gene" Luna, 70, Sedgwick, died Sunday, October 9, 1994 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born March 15, 1924 at Wichita, the son of Miguel and Anastasia Medina Luna. A longtime Sedgwick resident, he was retired from the Santa Fe Railway.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton and the Spanish Choir of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On September 23, 1950, he married Dolores Castro at Newton. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Luis Luna, Frank Luna and Michael Luna, all of Sedgwick and Ricardo Luna, ElDorado; two daughters, Monica Seldern, Wichita and Regina Wade, Newton; two brothers, Victor Luna, Sedgwick and Martin Luna, Valley Center; three sisters, Nellie Chavez and Anita and Lyla Luna, all of Sedgwick and nine grandchildren.

Rosary was Tuesday, evening, October 11, and Funeral services were held Wednesday morniing at the Church with Father David Linnebur presiding. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.

A memorial has been established with the Wesley Research Center for Lupus research.
