Obituary

Josephine L. Vanscoder, 69, Newton, died Sunday, June 12, 1994 at Halstead Hospital. She was born July 8, 1924 at Valley Center, the daughter of Joe Veilly and Daisy Milly Lewis Thomas. A Newton resident, she was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 30 years, worked at Boeing Aircraft and owned and operated a beauty shop at Sedgwick. She as a member of the Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Newton and Telephone Pioneers of America, Hutchinson.

Survivors: son, Billy J. Vanscoder, Hutchinson; sister, Alice Erdwein, Wichita, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Thomas and Blaine Thomas, and one sister, one sister, Mildred Mayall.

Funeral will be today, June 16 at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Newton. Burial will be in Hillside Cenetery, Sedgwick.
