Loyd, Paul Torrence

Harvey County Independent

Dr Paul T. Loyd, 78, Hesston, brother to Charles M. Loyd of Sedgwick, died Monday, November 13, 1995 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. He was born June 26, 1917 in rural Valley Center, the son of Charles G. and Loraine Light Loyd. He graduated from Kansas State University Veterinary School on Medicine, Manhattan, in 1940. A Newton resident since 1946, having moved to Schowalter Villa, Hesston, in 1993, he was a retired owner of Dr. Paul T. Loyd Veterinary Clinic, formerly of Newton. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, past president of Chamber of Commerce; former board member of Bank IV and Kansas State Bank, all of Newton; and was a member of American Veterinary Medical Association and Kansas Shorthorn Society. He served in the U.S. Army durig World War II from 1942 to 1945. On February 1, 1941, he married Mary Ellen Corman at ElDorado. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Michael Loyd, Newton; two daughters, Jody Ensign, Basalt, Colorado and Jayne Nordstrom, North Kingstown, Rhode Island; and 6 grandchildren. A Requiem Eucharist was to be celebrated Wednesday, November 15 at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Newton, with Mother Joyce W. Holmes presiding. Burial will be private.
