Polson, John A.

John A. Polson, 69, Halstead, died Friday, October 20, 1995 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born January 17, 1926 at Garfield, Kansas, the son of Homer F. and Mae G. Massey Polson. He grew up and attended high school in Garfield. He served in the U.S. Army a total of 42 years, serving with both the Army Aircorps and Reseerves from 1944 to 1986. when he retired as an Army Major. On September 2, 1950, he married Mary Lou Peckenschneider at Halstead.
A longtime member of the Hertzler Clinic staff, he celebrated his 44th year with the clinic last January, retiring as Administrator Emeeritus. He was also a long time member of the Medical Group Management Association, completing requirements to become a Fellow in ACMPE in 1985.
He was a member of the Halstead Presbyterian Church, the Halstead Chamber of Commerce and the American College of Medical Group Administrators.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; two sons, Douglas R. Polson, Shawnee and Matthew J. Polson, Los Angeles, California; daughter, Lisa C. Marvin, Wichita; and one step grandson.
Funeral was held Tuesday, October 24 at Halstead Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Donald B. Schroeder with the Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina, presiding.
Memorials have been established with Homecare and Hospice, Inc., Victory in the Valley and with the American Cancer Society, all in care of Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
