Obituary

Vada M. Slaven, 66, Newton, formerly of Burton, died Monday, February 27, 1995 at Newton Medical Center, Newton. She was born March 18, 1928 at Burrton, the daughter of Fred and Vedline LaGree VanRossun. A Newton resident since 1947, having lived at Burrton, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Golden Plains Free Methodist Church, rural Newton.

On December 2, 1950 she married Fred Slaven at Newton. He died in 1982.

Survivors: four sons, Gary Slaven, Billy Slaven, and Dwight Slaven, all of Newton, and David Slaven, Springfield, Missouri; three daughters, Sharon Davis, Alice Jantz and Barbara Fitzgerald, all of Goessel; two brothers, Ross Van Rossun, Newton and Clifford Van Rossun, Moundridge; sister, Delight Angle, Orlando, Florida; 12 grqndchildren and a great grandchild

Funeral was March 2 at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Charles Kaufmann presiding. Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memories, Newton. Memorial to American Heart Association.
