Steinle, Darrel D.

Darrel D. Steinle, 63, Newton, formerly of Sedgwick, died Tuesday, August 15, 1995 at his residence. He was born February 1. 1932 at Newton, the son of Alex and Carol E. Fry Steinle. A long time Newton resident, he was a clerk for the Santa Fe Railrod for 41 years, retiring in January 1992. He then worked as a service technician for Anderson Healthcare until July 1995. He had attended Sedgwick High School through his junior year.
He was Past Commander and Past Quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Whitesell-Finnel Post No. 971, Newton, a member of American Legion Wayne G. Austin Post No. 2 and a member of the USS Gardiners Bay Association and USS Philippines Seas Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1960.
On September 9, 1966, he married Evelyn Fensky at Peabody. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kim A. Butcher, Newton and Krystal D. Steinle, Wichita; his mother, Carole E. Steinle, North Newton and three grand children.
Funeral will be August 17 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Newton with the Rev. Ronald Gloe of the Zion Lutheran Church, Newton, presiding. Memorials have been established with the Kansas Veterans of Foreign Wars Endowment Association and with Central Homecare and Hospice.
