Obituary

Lorretta L. Ashley, 61, died Tuesday, June 18, 1996 at Newton Medical Center in Newton. She was born July 26, 1934 at Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leonard and LaVonta Baker Gardner. A resident of Halstead for the past 11 years, moving from Wichita, she was a retired benefits coordinator for the Wichita Eagle newspaper.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Halstead Hospital Auxiliary, which she served as president, and the Helianthos Club, all of Halstead.

She married Keith E. Ashley at Wichita on April 11, 1954. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Philip Ashley, Wichita; daughter, Katherine Ashley-Smith, Halstead; her mother, Halstead; and three grandchildren.

Graveside service was Thursday morning, June 20, at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead with the Rev. James Mardock presiding.
