Anna Mary (Sommerfeld) Chapple

Anna M. Chaple, 93, Hesston, former Halstead resident, died Friday, October 4, 1996 at Schowalter Villa, Hesston, Kansas.

She was born September 4, 1903 at Canton, the daughter of Henry and Elva Smith Sommerfeld. She moved to Harvey County in 1926 and then to Hesston in 1990. She was a retired homemaker and school cook. She was a member of Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston.

She married George Chapple at Newton on June 6, 1934. He died September 21, 1973.

Survivors include a son, James Chapple, Newton; two daughters, Verna Harder, Newton and Hazel Wiebe, Whitewater; a brother, Ed Sommerfeld, McLains; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, October 7, at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, with Pastor Louise Wideman presiding. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
