Henry M. "Haank" Deschner, 78, Newton, father to Katherine Ann Nickell of Burrton, died Monday, August 19, 1996 at his home. He was born August 26, 1917 in Newton, the son of Louis P. Deschner and Thelma Manning Deschner. A life time Newton area resident, he was raised and grew up on the same section of ground. He was a retired mobile home service technician.

He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 142 AF & AM and Order of the Eastern Star No. 5; Veterans of Foreign War, all of Newton. He served in the United States Navy from January 1944 to December 1945 in the Pacific.

He married Laura A. Hunter on August 18, 1937 in Peabody. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Guy Deschner, Sacramento, California, 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Earl Deschner.

Funeral was set for Wednesday at Petersen's Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
