Simon Duron, 70, Halstead, died Sunday, December 29, 1986 at his home in Halstead. He was born November 11, 1926 at Tepezala, Mexico, the son of Victor and Maria Eldsadi Duron. A Halstead resident, he was a retired agent-telegrapher and computer operator for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a past commander of the American Legion Post No. 231, Halstead and he was a member of the Halstead-Burton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1824. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I.
He married Caroline Haag at Indianola, Nebraska on January 4, 1958. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Michael Anthony Duron, Wichita; daughter, Michelle Denise Duron, of the home; brother, Raymond Duron, Norfolk, Virginia; two sisters, Joephine Martinez, Tuscon, Arizona and Rosie Duron, Wichita; five grandchildren. He was preceded in deth by two brothers, Manuel and an infant brother.
Rosary was Thursday January 2 at Kaufman Funeral Home. Funeral was Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, with Father James R. O'Shea presiding. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
