Obituary

Joanne V. Denno, 82, died Feb. 24, 2010 at Showalter Villa in Hesston. She was born Dec. 30, 1927 in Burrton to Harry and Edna (Irion) Hughes. On Jan. 24, 1948 she married Eugene Denno. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1990. She was a graduate of Wichita East High School and the St. Joseph School of Nursing. She was a longtime resident of Halstead prior to moving to Schowalter Villa. She retired from Newton Medical Center as a registered nurse after 42 years of service to the community. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Connie, and Gary Kristenson of Sugar Land, Texas, son Larry and Carol Denno of Halstead, Daughter Denise and Kenneth Koehn of Halstead, Daughter Gayle and Tay Lucas of Wichita, brother Milburn Hughes of Gallition Mo., and sister Gwen Sawyer of Wichita, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Denno and her parents, Harry and edna (Irion) Hughes. Funeral services were held Geb. 27 at Peterson Funeral Home, Newton with burial at Halstead City Cemetery. A memorial has ben established with Newton Medical Center in care of Peterson Funeral Home.
