Hagan, Vernon W.

Harvey County Independent

Vernon W. Hagan, 72, Sedgwick, died Thursday, September 19, 1996 at Newton Medical Center, Newton. He was born June 28, 1924 at Corning, Arkansas, the son of Robert and Malinda Rosson Hagan. Raised in Missouri, moving to Kansas in 1954, he worked in sales and service for City Blue Printing, Wichita, for 40 years, retiring in August 1995.

He was a member of Baptist Tabernacle, Wichita and served in the U.S.Navy during World War II.

On October 29, 1974, he married Patricia Smith at Miami, Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Larry Hagan, Pittsburg, Kansas; Doyle Hagan, Girard; and Richard Fox, Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters, Shelly Melton, Prattville, Alabama and Robin Taylor, Peabody; his mother, Doniphan, Missouri; three brothers, Ron Hagan, Spingfield, Missosuri; Wayne Hagan, Lowell, Arkansas; Ed Hagan, Doniphan, Missouri; two sisters, Ona Elkins, Doniphan, Missouri and Fern Murdock of Florida; and 9 grand children. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and one sister.

Funeral was Monday, September 23, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, wkth the Rev. Ray Mulugin, Independent Baptist Church, Grove, Oklahoma, presiding. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
