Kamm, Lucy J.

Harvey County Independent

Lucy J. Kamm, 96, Fort Worth, Texas, former Halstead resident, died June 11, 1996 at her home. She was born April 21, 1900 at Newton, daughter of Francis J. and Florence Marshall Chapple. She married Edwin D. Kamm August 29, 1918 at Peoria, Illinoia.

She and her husband moved to Kansas following their marriage and resided on a farm south of Halstead. They later moved to a farm east of Halstead where they lived until the death of Edwin on May 7, 1981. She then moved to Texas to make her home with her daughter, Mary Jane Kamm.

She was a member of St. John's United Church, Fort Worth. She had formerly been a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Newton and Highland Park Church, Dallas, Texas. As long as she was a resident of the Halstead area, she was a member of the Wimodauusis Club and attended meetings whenever she was back in Kansas. She was a homemaker and a doll collector.

Survivors: daughters, Maxine Roberts and Mary Jane Kamm, both of Fort Worth and Edna Nispel, Wichita; 6 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Chapple, William Chapple and George Chapple and four sisters, Nora Chapple, Alice Winsky, June McCart, Daisy McCarat and Sarah Chapple, who died in infancy.

Services were held June 14, 1996 at Broadway Chapel, Newton, with the Rev. David Keazirian of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, Newton. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
