Obituary

Llewellyn J. "Lewy" Schmidt, 77, Halstead, died Tuesday, Decemeber at Columbia Halstead Hospital in Halstead. He was born September 16, 1919, Halstead, the son of J.A.R. Schmidt and Susie Eck Schmidt. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead.

On May 8, 1941, he married Neva M. Dyck at Hesston. She survives. Other survivors include a son, John D. Schmidt, Sedgwick; daughter, Jewel M. Goertzen, Haviland; Violet R. Unruh, Farmington, Kentucky and Alice L. Koehn, Colcord, Oklahoma; brothers, Norman Schmidt, Montezuma and Melvin Schmidt, Halstead; sisters, Katherine Buller, Bernitta Schmidt, Lorene Koehn and Osie Koehn, all of Halstead; Elma Jean Yost, Greensburg and Eva Jantz, Montezuma; 13 grand children and five great grandchildren.

Funeral was December 6 at Grace Mennonite Church, Halstead. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
