Obituary

Anton Schroeder, 74, Hesston, formerly of Halstead, died Sunday, September 8, 1996 at Colunbia Halstad Hospital, Halstead. He was born August 22, 1922 at Goessel, the son of Peter M. and Agnetha Schmidt Schroeder. Before moving to Hesston, he had been a resident of Halstead for 36 years. He was a carpenter for Diversified Mobile Homes in Newton.

On May 12, 1959, he married Bonnie Phillips in Couer d' Alene, Idaho. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Mike Zerger, Trophy Club, Texas; Scott Zerger, McCoy, Colorado; Philip Zerger, British Columbis, Canada and Toby Schroeder, Austin, Texas; daughter, Charmaine Clayton, Cunningham, Kansas; brother, John Schroeder, North Newton; two sisters, Dora Schmidt, Goessel and Verna Portlock, Newton; 15 grandchildren and 3 grat grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ewald Schroeder.

Services were Wednesday, September 11 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, Burial was in Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton.
