Irene Michels

Irene L. Michels, 91, Halstead, died Saturday, March 8, 1997 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1906 at Hartford, Wisconsin, the daughter of George and Anna Hantz Gutchenritter. A resident of Halstead since 1943, she was a housekeeper for Halstead Hospital,, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstad.

On February 10, 1948, she married Mathias Michels in Wichita. He died December 27, 1977. Survivors: daughter, Mary Hayes, Ardmore, Oklahoma; daughters-in-law, Betty Michels, Longmont, Colorado and Mary Michels, Mt. Hope; sister, Agnes Kratz, Slinger, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sosns, Lee Michels, who died on October 14, 1981 and Joseph Michels, who died On February 6, 1986.

Services were Wednesday, March 12 at Sacred Heaat Catholic Church, Halstead. Rosary was Tuesday at the Church. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
