Obituary

Clarence E. Orpin, 71, Hesston, father to Roger Orpin of Burrton, died Wednesday, August 13, 1997 at Newton Medical Center. He was born February 11, 1926 at Newton, the son of Charles and Alice Farmer Orpin. A Hesston resident since 1966, moving from Walton, he was a mason and had done construction work for many years.

He belonged to Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

On February 12, 1953, he married Ruth Fay Jantz at Newton. She died July 28, 1991. Other survivors: four other sons, Gary Orpin and Charles Orpin, both of Hesston, Dana Orpin, Canton and Michael Orpin, Inman; daughter, Sharon Koehn, Moundridge; three brothers, David Orpin, Topeka; Jack Orpin, Newton and Edwiin Orpin of Oklahoma; two sisters, Margaret Orpin, North Newton and Marian Akers, Newton; and 16 grandcvhidren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

Services were Saturday August 16 at the Church with the Rev. Louise Wideman presiding. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery, near Hesston.
