Spaeth, John B.

Harvey County Independent

John B. Spaeth, Jr., 81, a native of Halstead, died Monday, March 10. 1997 at Life Care Center, Hendersonville, North Carolina. He had lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1954.

He was born July 6, 1915 in Harvey County, the son of the John B, and Lillian Freed Spaeth, Sr.

Mr. Spaeth was a 1936 graduate of Kansas State University and an Army veteran of WW II. He was owner of Spaeth Drug in Oklahoma City from 1948 to 1954. He was owner of John B. Spaeth Builders Inc. from 1955 - 1985 and owner of Spaeth Gift Shop in Hendersonville from 1958 - 1973. He also developed Lakewood R.V. Resort in Hendersonville from 1988 - 1993.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Hendersonville. He had been a member of Civitan and president of the Rugby Garden Club, also in Hendersonville.

He is survived by his cousins.

A memorial mass will be held March 17 at the Church in Hendersonville. Burial will be in Halstead, Kansas Cemetery at a later date.
