Stubby, Chester L.

Harvey County Independent

Chester L. "Chet" Stubby, 70, Hutchinson, formerly of Burrton died Wednesday, February 5, 1997 at his home after a lenghty illness. He was born September 21, 1926 in Canton in McPherson County, the son of Andrew and Helena Kliewer Stubby.

A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a retired product analyst with Cessna-Eaton Crop., retiring in 1990. He was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church and a past Commander of the American Legion Post No. 196, both at
Burrton. He belonged to American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 and the Highland Country Club, botn at Hutchinson, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Halstead, where he was a past Master Mason.

On February 16, 1947, he married Mary E. Talbott at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. She survives. Other survivors: two daughters, Teresa Ann Short, Burrton and Mari Dian Young, South Hutchinson; brother, Marvin Stubby, Burrton; four grandchildren and three great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, LaVerne and Virgil and two sisters, Darlene Floyd and Joan McElwain.

Seervices were Saturday, February 8 at Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel, Hutchinson. Burial was in the Burrton Cemetery, Burrton.
