Obituary

Gladys LaVerne Walters Sundbye, 92, Sedgwick, died Thursday, December 4, 1997 at Sedgwick Healthcare Center, Sedgwick, Kansas. She was born April 3, 1905 in Johnson County, the daughter of Charles and Amanda Lyons Walters. A longtime Halstead resident, moving to Sedgwick Healthcare in 1982, she was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Halstead.

On June 6,, 1928, she married Anthon Sundbye at Johnson County. He died November 7, 1980. Suruvivors: sons, Larry Sundbye, Council, Idaho and Keith Sundbye, Halstead; daughters, Marilee Wear, Laramie, Wyoming; Carolyn Ropp, San Marcos, Texas; Anita Parks, St. Cloud, Florida; sister, Opal Gay, Spring Hill; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, LaVerne Joy Sundbye in 1943 and a granddaughter, Barbara Joy Wear in 1957.

Funeral was Monday, December 8 at First United Methodist Church in Halstead, with the Rev. James Mardock presiding. Burial was in Halstead Cemetery.
