John J Chavez

John J. Chavez, 63, Sedgwick, died Monday, July 6, 1998 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Camapus, in Wichita. He was born September 11, 1934 at Mulvane, the son of Meliton R. and Josefa B. Bonilla Chavez. A longtime Sedgwick resident, he ws a Building Services Carpenter with Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita before retiring.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1954 to Novemer 1962.

On May 11, 1957, he married Manuela Luna at Newton. She survives. Other survivors: sons, Antonio F. Chavez, Sedgwick and Daniel M. Chavez, Mississippi; daughters, Victoria T. Davis, Anthony; Angela C. Panek, Waterloo; and Elisa M. Wagoner, Olathe; sister, Martina B. Chavez, Sedgwick, 13 grandchildren.

Rosary was Wednesday July 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead. Funeral mass was Thursday, July 9 at the Church with Father James O'Shea presididng. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas
