Enns, Walter I.
Harvey County Independent
Walter I. Enns, 87, Burrton, died Monday, March 16, 1998 at Halstead Hospital. He was born January 2, 1911 at rural Halstead, the son of Kornelius and Helena Toevs Enns. A lifelong Harvey County resident,, he was a retired Harvey County road and bridge supervisor.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Burrton, Buhler Rambler Capers, and a ten year volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Burrton.
On August 17, 1935, he married Alevina Olive Holzrichter at Lyons. She survives. Other survivors: sons, Victor Enns, Wamego; Merle Enns, Halstead and Randy Hurst, Hutchinson; daughter, Sara Moores, Liberty, Missouri; sister, Elma Dickson, Rose Hill; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gene Enns; daughter, Betty Jean Enns; two brothers, John and Ernest Enns; five sisters, Marie Enns; Helen Ediger; Anna Boese; Hulda Penner and Edna Lockhart.
Funeral was March 19 at First Christian church in Burrton with Pastors Stephen Payne and Robert Walters presiding. Burial will be in Burrton Cemetery. Memorials to American Heart Association.
