Obituary

Marvin M. Gilbert, 76, Burrton, died Thursday, March 19, 1998 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1922 at rural Rooks County, the son of Roy J. and Molly M. Berger Gilbert. A resident of Burrton for 34 years, he was a retired oil field welder.

He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

On November 15, 1947, he married Edith G. Smith at Hays. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Russell R. Gilbert, Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters, Sherry L. Craig, St. Louis, Missouri and Kelli D. Broce, Wichita; brother, Jack D. Gilbert, Plainville; sister, Luella M. Eberle, Glen Elder, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hilton Gilbert and Arden Gilbert.

Graveside service was March 23 in Burrton Cemetery with the Rev. James Gundy presiding. Memorials to Burrton Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Department.
