Obituary

Noel V. Hayes, 69, Halstead, died Saturday, January 10, 1998 at the Halstead Hospital. He was born February 21, 1928 at Whitewater, the son of Lee and Amanda E. Deatherage Hayes. A resident of Halstead for 22 years, he was a retired self-employed business man and former Legg Comany employee.

He was a former member of the Kiwanas Club, Newton; former member of the American Legion Post 231 Halstead; and was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

On April 5, 1975, he married Madeleine D. Brandt at Newton. She survives. Other survivors: sons, Ronald A. Hayes, Dayton, Ohio; Michael D. Hayes, Moundridge; daughters, Peggy A. Sherrick, Newton; Judy L. VanRossun, Wichita; Lynda G. Burse, Moundridge; 5 step children; sisters, Lois Bombadier, Neton and Fern Phipps, Newton; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Ralph Hayes, Ott Hayes, Horace Hayes and Archie Hayes and sisters, Audrey Hayes and Rita Hock.

Graveside service was January 14 in Halsteaed Cemetery with the Rev. James A. Mardock presiding. Memorials to American Lung Association.
