Janzen, Vergil W. "Bud"

Harvey County Independent

Vergil W. "Bud" Janzen, 80, Pretty Prairie, formerly of Sedgwick, died Friday, March 13, 1998 at Prairie Sunset Manor, Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He was born November 18, 1917 at Halstead, the son of Walter William and Pearl O'Dell Janzen. A long time area resident, he was a retired mock-up craftsman for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead; life member of Hicks-Davison American Legion Post 268, Sedgwick; VFW Post 971 and Elks Club, both of Newton. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving during World War II.

On April 20, 1938 he married C. Yvonne McGinn at Halstead. She preceded him in death. Survivors: son, Dr. Henry "Hank" Janzen, Hutchinson; sister, Olga Hensley, Halstead; and a granddaughter, Jennifer J. Anderes, Abilene, Kansas.

Funeral mass was March 16 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead. Rosary was Sunday, March 15. Burial was in the Halstead Cemetery.
