Schirer, G. Faye

Faye Hackney Schirer, 88, Newton, mother of Ivan Schirer, Halstead, died Tuesday, February 17, 1998 at Kidron Bethel Health Care Center, Newton. She was born December 11, 1909 at Hope, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert Christopher and Ethel E. Hutton Hackney. She was a graduate of Newton High School and had lived in Newton most of her life. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Newton, and Macon Improvement Club of rural Newton.

On October 7, 1928, she married Clarence Schirer. He died April 28, 1983. Other survivors: three other sons, Keith Schirer, Newton; Marshall Schirer, Wichita and Robert Schirer, Lyons; daughter, Eleanor Schirer, Newton; a brother, Lester Hackney, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Faye Nicholas and Esther Smith, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral was February 20 at First Baptist Church, Newton with Pastor Alden Dick and Chaplain Amanda Rempel of Kidron Bethel Village, North Newton, presiding. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memories, Newton.
