Larry S. Spencer, 53, Newton, son to Gladys O. Spencer who is a former Halstead resident, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wichita. He was born October 29, 1944 in Newton, the son of Donald B. and Gladys O. Buller Spencer. A lifetime resident of Newton, he was a brakeman and conductor for Santa Fe Railroad with 18 years of service.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 2516 and VFW Post No. 971, both at Newton. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam.

Survivors; a son, Alan S. Spencer, Derby; daughter, Angela K. Yeager, Conroe, Texas; his parents, Newton; two brothers, Donald D. Spencer, Wichita and Richard B. Spencer, Emporia; and ghree grndchildren.

Funeral was April 2 at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Craig Hauschild presiding. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
