Carnahan, Betty

Harvey County Independent

Betty Carnahan, 58, Newton, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at Nebraska Health Systems in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born July 15, 1940 in Whitewater, the daughter of William J. and Hazel P. Fowler Chambers. She was a branch manager for First Federal Savings, Halstead, for 14 years,, having worked for First Federal for two years before that. She then worked for Railroad Savings & Loan until retirement due to ill health. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Newton.

On July 14, 1990, she married Larry Carnahan in Newton. He survives. Other survivors: son, Geron Smith, Wichita; sister, Bonnie Corfman, Newton; stepdaughter, Kimberly Russett, Ulysses and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William L. Chambers.

Funeral was Friday, May 7 at First Churchof the Hazarene with Pastor Larry Morgan presiding. Private burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Memorials may be sent to Lied Transplant Center and University of Nebraska of Omaha in care of Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
