Obituary

Hester A. Dennis, 95, Halstead, died Sunday, May 2, 1999 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was born April 4, 1904 at Woods County, Oklahoma,a the daughter of George and Amelia Graves Hill. Before moving to Schowalter Villa, she had been a resident of Halstead since 1939 and was the former owner/operator of Dennis Variety Store in Halstead. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, both of Halstead.

On August 28, 1921 she married Fenton A. Dennis at Kiowa. He died March 17, 1993.

Survivors: a son, Dean Dennis, Midland, Texas and a daughter, Betty J. Kindell, Ocala, Florida; four grandchidren; and two great grandchildren.

she was preceded in death by four brothers, Omar, Orloff, Lawrence and Claude and two sisters, Goldie and Pearl.

Funeral was Thursday, May 6 at the Methodist Church with the Rev. James A. Mardock presiding. Burial will be in Halstead Cemetery.
