Kay C. Lachenmayr, 59, Newton, mother to Jane Penner of Sedgwick, died Friday, December 31, 1999 at Newton Medical Center. She was born February 6, 1940 at Newton, the daughter of Luther D. and Gladys M. (Hatch) McJilton. She attended Newton Schools, graduating from Newton High School in 1958. She was a realtor for Century 21 and had co-owned Morgan McJilton Realty, Newton, for 27 years.
She belonged to Trinity Heights United Methodist Church; the board of directors of Mirror, Inc; was a charter member of the board of directors of Northview Developmental Services, Inc; and had been a board member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce since 1998 and the Newton Board of Realtors, all at Newton. She had been active in the Lambs Investment Club since 1991; served as a counselor on the McPherson Area Council for Alcohol & Drug counseling from 1995 to 1997; belonged to the Wichita Area Board of Realtors and the Multi-List Committee; formerly served on the board of the Kansas State Realtors, and served as a volunteer for the Victim/Offender Ministries Program; the Prairie View Mental Health Centeer for 19 years and the Parents Helping Parents Program, all at Newton.
On December 27, 1959, she married Howard M. Lachenmayr at Newton. He survives. Other survivors include a son, John Lachenmayr, Newton, another daughter, Kirsten Lachenmayr, Newton; four sisters, Barbara Fabic, Gaitherburg, Md.; Shirley Gates, Denver, Colorado; Loretta Bowersock, Dana Point, California and Darla Neal, Hutchinson and two grandchidren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral was Tuesday, Janury 4 a Trinity Heights United Methodist Churchk Newton, with the Rev. Don Swender presiding. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
