Obituary

Victor P. Martens, 78, Greeley, Colorado, formerly of Halstead, died Saturday, May 1, 1999 at his residence. He was born June 8, 1920 at Inman, the son of Gustav B. and Mary Pauls Martens. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greeley, Colorado.

He married Esther Weins, who died on July 23, 1962. On November 23, 1965, he married Faith Miller at Halstead. She survives. Other survivors: sons, Gene Martens, Ames, Iowa; Loren Martens, Kansas City, Missouri; Donald Martens, Lees Summit, Missouri; daughter, Jody Martens, Fruita, Colorado; brother, Walter Martens, Arvada, Colorado; two sisters, Alma Thiesen, Hutchinson and Lois Dewhurst, Arvada, Colorado and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Martens and Ed Martens.

Memorial services will be May 6 at First Presbyterian Church, Halstead, with the Rev. Cleo Koop presiding. Inurnament will be in Halstead Cemetery, Halstead, Kansas.
