Obituary

Lena G. Smith Penner, 90, Moundridge, died Sunday, July 11, 1999 at Moundridge Manor. She was born March 30, 1909 at Lehigh, the daughter of John K. and Marie Gosen Esau. A Moundridge resident since 1986, she moved from California. She was retired from Halstead Hospital. She was a member of Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge.

In 1934, she married Carr Smith. He died in 1959. In 1962, she married Abe Penner. He died in 1991.

Survivors include son, Richard Smith, Hesston and stepsons, Ed Penner, Leland Mississippi; Richard Penner, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; daughter, Leona Smith-Beesley, Mariposa, California and stepdaughter, Juanita Buerge, Ithaca, Michigan; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral was Thursday, July 15 at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Buriala was in Halstead Cenetery, Halstead.
