Obituary

Ruby A. Barkman, 82, longtime Newton resident, died on Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2011) at Pine Village in Moundridge.

She was born on July 7, 1929, in Lehigh to Jacob H. and Lydia Esau Barkman. She was a home loan officer for the Veterans Administration in Wichita.

Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Roberts of Moundridge; nieces, Cherie Lagree-(Orval) Yoder of South Hutchinson, Nikki (Jim) Besse of Wichita, Susan Smith of Wichita, Becky (Mike) Jantz of Newton and Rachel (Armondo) Paz of Redmond, Wash.; and a nephew, William Barkman. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jake Barkman Jr.; and a niece, Gwen Barkman.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Moundridge Funeral Home. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Halstead Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Pine Village or the Caring Hands Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
