Obituary

Erma B. Dean, 80, Newton, Mother to Mary Ryan of Halstead, died Thursday, September 15, 1994 at Friendly Acres Retirement Community, Newton, Kansas. She was born September 23, 1913 in Harvey County near Walton, she was the daughter of Herbert Christopher Hackney and Ethel Hutton Hackney. A life time Harvey County resident, she moved to Newton in 1937. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

On July 24, 1933 she married Harold J. Dean in Wichita. He died December 31, 1980.

Survivors: son, Albert Wayne Dean, Wichita; two brothers, Ray Hackney, Newton and Lester Hackney, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one sister, Faye Schirer, North Newton; six grandchidren; ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Olson and Pearl Rowland.

Rosary was Friday. Funeral was Saturday, September 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Newton.
