Molzen, Sharon B.

Harvey County Independent

Sharon B. Molzen, 47, Newton, Harvey County extension agent, died Saturday, January 28, 1995 at Halstead. She was born March 29, 1947 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, daughter of Floyd and Pansy Sage Bush. She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics and journalish in 1969, both at Kansas State University. She moved to the Newton area in 1969. She bean her work in Harvey County on August 4, 1969. She was a Harvey County Extension home economics director.

She was a memberof Highland Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Newton. In Harvey County, she sponsored the first Parents University Steering Committee, was a member of Partnership for Harvey County Families, wrote a grant for Harvey County Partneership, developed curriculum for Positive Parenting, was a past member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce, was on the 1993 planning committee for Harvey County United Way, was a board member of Parents as Teachers, was a 4-H Parent and Project Leader, belonged to the Hesston High School Site Council, the Community Education Clearing House, the Area Agencies Coalition, was a County SCHICK Coordinator, developed foods and nutrition classes for Healthy Lives and was a member of the FHP Charitable Foundation Board and the Harvey County Home Economics Club.

For the state of Kansas, she was a member of the Corporation for Change, the Governor's Task Force on Rural Kansas, the Kansas Council on Family Relations, was a member and secretary in 1992 and 1993 of the Kansas Home Economics Association.

On January 27, 19713, she married Larry Molzen at rural Newton. He survives. Other survivors include; two daughters, Rebecca Lee and Kellie Letha Molzen, both of the home, parents, Liberty, Missouri; two brothers, Floyd Jeffrey Bush, Liberty, Missouri and Kelley Allen Bush, Holt, Missourip three sisters, Linda Colleen Stone, Littleton, Colorado; Vicki Eileen Wickward, Cameron, Missouri and Connit Ruth Hass, K ansas City, Missouri.

Memorial service was Wedneday at the Church with the Rev. Lyle Albright presiding. There was a private family burial.
