Lois Wear Brown

Lois Wear Brown, 66, Overlannd Park, Kansas, former Halstead area resident, died February 7, 1991 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. She was born October 5, 1924, daughter of Orville and Minerva Steinbaugh Wear. She moved with her family to a farm southwest of Halstead. She was a 1942 graduate of Halstead High School and a 1946 graduate of Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas. ]

She had been an Overland Park resident since 1987, moving from Manhattan, Kansas and formerly of Hutchinson and Garden City. She taught school at the Cunningham High School from 1946 through 1949.

She married Bill Brown December 6, 1949 and had worked as a church secretary and medical office clerk in Manhattan.

She was a member of St. Peter's Episcoopal Church, Kansas City, Missouri and Chapter FB of the PEO. She was former president of the mental health associations in Finney and Riley Counties.

Survivors: husband of the home; daughter, Kathy Rieger, Topeka; brother, Maurice Wear, Laramie, Wyoming; 4 grandchildren and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Clancy R. Brown, Halstead.

A memorial service was held Saturday, February 9 at the church with the Rev. Steve McKee. Internment of the ashes was in the church.
